New Delhi, July 10: Amidst speculation over Sourav Ganguly’s likely foray into the cricket administration, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) today said the former India captain will have to wait long to head the BCCI.
ACA secretary Bikash Baruah said it is not just the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) which has the right to nominate its candidate for the post of BCCI chief when East Zone’s turn came in the rotation policy.
He said there were other cricket bodies in the east which also have the right to make nomination for the top BCCI post, while pointing out that present CAB chief Jagmohan Dalmiya had already held the BCCI president’s post earlier.
“Ganguly will have to wait beyond 2014 to fulfill any such aspiration,” Baruah said.
Baruah said it would be the turn of the Orissa Cricket Association to forward its nominee for the post of BCCI chief in 2014.
“It is unfortunate that neither Ganguly nor the CAB has taken steps to clear the air. They should make their stand clear to the media,” he said.
Ganguly is yet to clear his stand on the issue.
