Gangster Nayeem wanted to see me as CM: R Krishnaiah

Making it clear that he was ready to face any punishment if the SIT proved that he had financial relations with slain gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem, LB Nagar MLA R Krishnaiah has alleged that 99 percent of ruling party leaders like Ministers, MLAs and MLCs had financial links with the gangster.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Krishnaiah admitted he had relations with Nayeem when the latter worked with Radical Students’ Union. “The relations with Nayeem were not financial one. Nayeem wanted me to become a chief minister”, he said.

Extending support to the State government for “killing” Nayeem in an encounter, Krishnaiah has said Nayeem had indulged in several atrocities. “The government was trying to malign me. I am ready to answer if the SIT issues me notices”, he said alleging that there was no transparency in SIT interrogation.

Demanding that the State government order CBI inquiry into the Nayeem case, Krishnaiah alleged that the State government was targeting him with political motives. “It is not correct on the part of the government to state that I worked with Nayeem for the post of Chief Minister. It is not correct to the person staying in Chief Minister position to make allegations against the sincere person like me”, Krishnaiah said. He said he was working for the sake of his people and there was no truth in the allegations that Nayeem had invested in the LB Nagar elections where he won that election.

Krishnaiah said several people approached him to redress their grievances. “I never took money from any one to do their work”, he said. Several victims of Nayeem too approached him, he said, adding that he warned Nayeem not to harass the poor and innocent people. He revealed that Nayeem had informed him that the latter decided to surrender to the government along with three others. “I said we will see the issue when you surrender. I don’t know the atrocities of Nayeem clearly but Nayeem’s dream was to see me as a Chief Minister. Nayeem said after 2014 elections that I missed Chief Minister post. Nayeem wished me to became a Chief Minister of the State”, he said. He also said he participated in Bhongir Urs and Ganesh festivals. He said he spoke to Nayeem one month before the encounter. He opined that it was not correct to target him keeping old relations with Nayeem. (NSS)
