Gangster Kumar Pillai extradited to Mumbai

Mumbai: Kumar Pillai, a wanted gangster who was held in Singapore in February after the Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice against him, has been extradited to Mumbai. The gangster has several cases against him in Mumbai, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion etc.

A police officer said that local cops mainly relied on a set of Pillais finger prints, taken nearly 26 years ago, while preparing dossiers seeking his extradition. Before fleeing Mumbai in 1990s, Pillai was arrested only once and later jumped bail. Sources said the crime branch officials strongly believed that Pillai had had links with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
