Hyderabad: Hyderabad is identified in the entire world for its Ganga-Jamuna civilization and the great personality which promoted this civilization is Mr. Syed Vicaruddin, President of Indo-Arab League and Editor of Rehnuma-e-Deccan, Urdu Daily of Hyderabad.
Arab League gave him a special award in recognition of his services for which he rightly deserved. In fact, this award should have been given to him long back. Mr. Vicaruddin supported the cause of Palestine under the banner, “Indo-Arab League”. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while addressing as Chief Guest on the occasion of felicitation offered to Mr. Syed Vicaruddin.
The felicitation function was organized by Panjetan Educational and Welfare Association, Hyderabad.
Continuing his address, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that there are many Muslim countries in the world but they lack unity. The lack of unity among the Muslim countries delayed the cause of Palestine.
It is very happy to note that a voice was raised from Hyderabad to support the cause of Palestine which reached the portals of Arab countries. The success of it goes to Mr. Vicaruddin.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that he respects Mr. Vicaruddin as his elder brother. He also desired that the dream of Palestine as an independent State should come true in his lifetime.
He informed that a spacious hall is under construction on the second floor of Siasat Office Complex. This will accommodate 400 persons. Mr. Vicaruddin will be invited to inaugurate this hall. On this occasion, lifetime achievement award would be presented to him on the behalf of Siasat Urdu Daily.
He further told that there is a need to work for the unity of secular forces since communal elements are active in their evil designs.
Quoting the election results of UP, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that due to lack of unity among the secular forces, BJP assumed power. Elections in Karnataka are going to be held in a couple of days. If secular forces do not get united, Congress will face the defeat. After Karnataka elections, BJP may focus on Telangana State wherein BJP President, Amit Shah is likely to visit soon.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan advised Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Dy. CM of TS to take immediate steps for the formation of Urdu Academy so that it could help small newspapers and periodicals.
He suggested that on the lines of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association, Osmania University Old Boys’ Association should also be formed.
Replying to the felicitation, Mr. Syed Vicaruddin thanked the organizers and said that the issue of Palestine is very important for the Muslim world. He further told that as President of Indo-Arab League he attended 18 international conferences and in addition to Palestine issue, made representations on the status of Muslims in India. Hyderabad commands respect in the entire Arab world. He informed that the ambassadors of 22 Muslim countries suggested this award for him. He thanked Mr. Zahid Ali Khan and Siasat Urdu Daily for promoting the cause of Palestine.
Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that it is a matter pride for him that he is amongst two towering personalities of journalism. He further told that these personalities are struggling to promote communal harmony and Ganga-Jamuna civilization. The award given to Mr. Vicaruddin is an honour for Telangana State. He lamented that Muslims do not command influence in national print media.
He applauded the efforts of Mr. Vicaruddin for his untiring effort for the cause of Palestine.
