Gang robbing auto-rickshaw passengers busted

Ghaziabad: The police today claimed to have arrested four members of a gang that robbed travellers by posing as passengers of a shared auto-rickshaw.

The accused were arrested from an auto-stand under a flyover at the New Railway Station area, SP-City Aakash Tomar said.

They have been identified as Shahrukh, Waseem, Sher Khan and Subhash, the officer said.

During interrogation, they confessed that they robbed people in share auto-rickshaws by posing as passengers, he claimed.

“They committed the crime in connivance with auto- rickshaw drivers,” the SP said, adding that a country-made pistol, bullets and three knives were seized from them.

The accused were wanted in three cases of robbery committed in auto-rickshaws. They have been sent to jail, the officer said.
