Ganesh procession almost peaceful, stray incidents of violence

Hyderabad, September 12: The central Ganesh procession was overall peaceful in Hyderabad city yesterday. However stray incidents of miscreancy occurred at other place besides old city of Hyderabad on which police took immediate control. Police’s successful planning proved fruitful however delay in taking out procession became the cause of difficulties.

Following the visit by home minister and DGP, additional police force had been deployed and DGP inspected the Ganesh procession through helicopter along with the home minister.

Police’s strategy to pass the procession early from the old city failed. Provocative slogans were raised and controversial songs were sung during the procession.

Later addressing a press conference city commissioner of police Abdul Khayyum Khan told that the central Ganesh procession was totally peaceful. He told that a stranger was taken into custody at Moazzamjahi market area who was roaming suspiciously. He told that police kept vigilance with 1000 videographers and also with telescopes.

He said Zohr prayer at historical Makkah masjid was performed on time and the procession had been halted at Shalibandi.
