A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday asked the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to ensure that the height of Ganesh idols to be installed at pandals during Ganesh festival shall not cross 20 feet.
The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao suggested this while dealing with a petition filed by M Venu Madhav, advocate of the city. The petitioner had complained that the earlier orders of the court are not being complied with regard to immersion of Ganesh idols in the city lakes.
When the bench said that permission from the competent authority is to be required for installation of Ganesh idols, a representative appearing for the Samithi urged the court to permit them to engage the counsel to argue their case. While permitting the Utsav Samithi to engage the counsel, the bench adjourned the hearing.
