Stating that the State Government was ready for the debate on ‘power’ tariff hike, if the TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu was willing to participate, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has said that the Government has increased the power tariff in defensible conditions.
Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Wednesday, Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy said that it was ridiculous on the part of Naidu to criticize the State Government with regard to power tariff hike. He alleged that the TDP was using the power tariff hike issue for its political gains only.
He said that the TDP had not utilized the Assembly session for discussion on power situation in the State, but now the TDP was taking up agitations only for political gains. Naidu, who was the reason for the death of three activists during his regime, was now chanting scriptures like devils, he alleged. He said that the power sector was in Rs.12,000 crore loases and it was a compulsory situation to hike the tariffs.
He said that the Opposition parties have to understand the conditions prevailing in the State and cooperate with the State Government.
Responding to a question, Gandra said that the key leaders from State were in Delhi and the high command has to discuss with the leaders on Telangana issue and take a decision and announce a road map on it.
