Congress senior leader Gandra Venkataramana Reddy on Wednesday advised the leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to focus on the problems being faced by the people during their party’s plenary meeting being held in Hyderabad on April 24.
Speaking to media persons here, Gandra accused the TRS Government of neglecting the problems being faced by the people, especially farmers. He said that the situation has turned so worse that the TRS workers would raise a banner of revolt against the leadership if they skip discussions on farmers’ issue during the plenary session. He said at least one farmer is committing suicide in the State. On Tuesday, three farmers have committed suicide. But the State Government is silent on these suicides, he alleged.
Similarly, Gandra said that the TRS Government has neglected the students and youth, who played an active role in formation of Telangana State. He said that the State Government took no steps to provide the promised one lakh jobs to the educated unemployed youth. He advised the TRS Government to concentrate on fulfilling the promises that it made with the people in its manifesto.
When asked about the reported defections of a few more Congress leaders to the TRS, Gandra said that the Congress party was not worried about them. However, he advised the leaders to quit from their posts before joining the ruling party. He also admitted that some leaders are blackmailing the Congress by threatening to defect to the TRS. (INN)
