Hyderabad: The outsourcing nursing employees of Gandhi Hospital on Monday stopped work for two hours and staged dharna from 8 am to 10 am in protest against non-payment of their salaries for the last three months.
Addressing the protestors, AITUC State president V S Bose lamented though they were taking up the issue with the officials concerned, contractors and other several times, the latter remained negligent though the nursing staff abandoned duties and crippled hospital working for a day. He said the nursing staff had to resort to dharna on Monday for two hours in the morning with a view to wake up the officials and contractors from their deep slumber and blaming each other on their urgent problem.
AITUC Telangana Medical Contract Employees & workers union president M Narsimha said the outsourcing employees were working on a paltry and have not been receiving their salaries for the past three months. He also said they have been organizing protests and dharnas every three months for payment of their salaries. As their duties were of emergency nature, they were attending to their duties with a service motto. He also warned that they will be constrained to go on indefinite strike if their appeals for salaries fell on deaf ears.
Narsing staff unit leaders B Meghamala, G H Laxmi, Indira, Prameela, Sundarammak, Sudha, Arogyamma and others were present.
