New Delhi, September 02: It is Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s 142nd birth anniversary on Sunday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit Rajghat alongwith UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath were also present to pay honour the Mahatama.
Senior BJP leader LK Advani was also present at Rajghat.
This is Sonia Gandhi’s first public appearance after her surgery. She returned on September 8 after undergoing a surgery is US.
The Congress president was at the Rajghat for about 15-20 minutes. After the prayers, Advani was seen talking to Sonia apparently enquiring about her health.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Mahatma Gandhi’s grand-daughter Tara Gandhi has requested people to observe a minute’s silence to note the importance of non-violence in today’s world.
