Hyderabad, September 30: As expected, Kamareddy MLA Gampa Goverdhan on Thursday submitted his resignation to Telugu Desam party primary membership and also to his MLA’s post.
Gampa Goverdhan faxed his two-page resignation letter to TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu accusing him of adopting ambivalent attitude on Telangana State. He said he was severing his 29-year long ties with the TDP for the cause of Telangana. “I am submitting resignation respecting the sentiments and aspirations of region people. I have decided to join TRS and work towards achieving the Telangana state,” he said while addressing a press conference.
Accompanied with TRS floor leader Etala Rajender and MLAs K Taraka Rama Rao and Ravinder Reddy, Gampa Goverdhan went to the Legislative Assembly and submitted his resignation letter to Assembly Secretar Raja Sadaram.
Goverdhan was the seventh legislator who came out of the TDP over the issue of Telangana.
Sources say that Yellareddy MLA Nallamadugu Surender is also considering his resignation from the TDP on the lines of Gampa Goverdhan. If Surender joins the TRS, the TDP would have no representation in the Nizamabad district.
