Gambhir opts out of final Test in Mumbai

New Delhi, November 27: Indian opener Gautam Gambhir will not be available for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka to be played in Mumbai from December 2.

Gambhir has scored two consecutive centuries in the two Tests so far but he has opted out of the final Test to so as to attend his sister’s wedding.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) retained the same squad and no replacement has been called in for Gambhir.

”Gautam Gambhir will not be available for the Test, on account of his sister’s wedding on 3 December,” the BCCI said.

”The strength of the squad for the Mumbai Test will thus be 14.

”The All-India Senior Selection Committee has retained the same side for the third Test of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, to be played at Mumbai from 2 December 2009 to 6 December 2009,” BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement today.

Indian Team: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, M Vijay, Pragyan Ojha, S Sreesanth and S Badrinath.
