“The year 2018 brought about a change at the top of Gallup’s Most Admired Woman list for the first time in 17 years, with Hillary Clinton falling back.
This year she came in third with 4% of the vote after Oprah Winfrey in second with five per cent and Obama with 15 per cent.
Michelle Obama has authored a best-selling autobiography, Becoming, whereas Clinton has withdrawn more into private life after running for president and her time as secretary of state and first lady.
The top 10 most admired women were:
Michelle Obama – 15 percent
Oprah Winfrey – 5 percent
Hillary Clinton – 4 percent
Melania Trump – 4 percent
Queen Elizabeth – 2 percent
Angela Merkel – 2 percent
Ruth Bader Ginsburg – 2 percent
Ellen DeGeneres – 2 percent
Nikki Haley – 1 percent
Malala Yousafzai – 1 percent
Gallup first conducted its most admired poll in 1946 and has done so every year since except in 1976. It surveyed 1,025 adults from Dec. 3-12 with a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
Barack Obama came in first for most admired man at 19 per cent, beating U.S. President Donald Trump, who came in second at 13 per cent. Obama was the top choice for most-admired man for 35 per cent of Democrats vs. 7 percent of Republicans. Trump was the choice of 1 percent of Democrats and 32 percent of Republicans.
Obama has held the title for 11 consecutive years and is now just one first-place finish short of being voted most admired man the most times. Dwight Eisenhower currently holds that honour.

Donald Trump – 13 percent
George W. Bush – 2 percent
Pope Francis – 2 percent
Bill Gates- 1 percent
Bernie Sanders – 1 percent
Bill Clinton – 1 percent
Dalai Lama – 1 percent
Joe Biden – 1 percent
Elon Musk – 1 percent
Gallup points out two noticeable absences from this year’s list – Sen. John McCain and Rev. Billy Graham, both of whom passes away this year.
