Hyderabad, January 12: A CBI Special Court today extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka BJP Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, his brother-in-law and Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) Managing Director B V Srinivas Reddy and two others accused in the ‘illegal’ mining case, till January 25.
The Reddys, who were currently lodged in Chanchalaguda Jail here, and another accused ex-Director of AP Mines and Geology Department V D Rajagopal, were produced before the court which extended the remand.
The Reddys were arrested from Bellary in Karnataka by CBI on September 5 last year for their alleged involvement in the case The judicial custody of suspended senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, another accused in the OMC case, was also extended till January 25 through video-conference.
After being produced in the court, Janardhana Reddy requested Judge Nagamaruti Sarma to consider his bail application, which was earlier posted for hearing to January 23 and said he would not leave the country if released on bail.
Due to security reasons, Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law were not produced in the court for the past few months and their judicial remand was extended through video-conference.
CBI had registered a case against the OMC mining firm in 2009 in connection with illegal mining in Bellary Reserve Forest.
In APIIC-Emaar properties scam case the court extended till January 25 the judicial remand of industrialist Koneru Rajendra Prasad, an accused in the scam.
