TDP leader Payyavula Keshav here on Tuesday claimed that former Karnataka minister and OMC scam principal accused Gali Janardhana Reddy had admitted before the CBI officers that he had paid Rs 500 crores to late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as a gift. He also alleged that the amount was utilized to meet the expenses in the last elections.
Speaking to mediapersons, Keshav has urged the Election Commission to initiate corrective steps to stop electoral malpractices which were corroding democratic values. The TDP leader further alleged that Gali Janardhana Reddy had given a statement to the CBI officials that he had borne the entire election expenditure of Congress candidates in Anantapur district.
Payyavula said he would write to the Election Commission to get these irregularities probed and corrective steps taken. Keshav said the shoddy affairs between Gali and the Congress party were prominently published in a Kannada daily and Gali’s statement made before the CBI would be coming to the trial court in two or three days.
