Gajwel should become a model constituency: KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has expressed confidence that Gajwel would emerge as a model Assembly constituency in Telangana State.

Addressing a review meeting held at Erravelli village of Medak district, the Chief Minister announced Rs 25 lakh for each village in his constituency for the developmental works. He said that all developmental works would be executed under the direct supervision of local sarpanches. Rs 10 lakh reward would be given to the village which first completes the assigned works. He said all villages in the State should have a crematorium and in villages with high Muslim or Christian population, there should be a burial ground.

On the Chief Minister’s request, TRS MLC Sudhakar Reddy announced Rs 50 lakh from his funds for the establishing crematoriums in all villages of Gajwel constituency.

The Chief Minister announced that all households in his constituency would get tap water connection. He exhorted the people to focus on bringing back greenery to Telangana. He said restoration of greenery would improve weather conditions besides increasing the ground water levels. He said maintenance of cleanliness should be given top priority in Gajwel and people should keep their villages clean as they maintain their houses.

Earlier, the Chief Minister reviewed the status of electricity, roads and other facilities related to Panchayat Raj and other departments. He announced that Rs 250 crore would be spent for restoration of 604 tanks in Gajwel constituency. He said 1.40 lakh acres of land would be irrigated through Pranahita-Chevella project. Further, he said Rs 5,000 crore project would be constructed up nearly Pamulapurthy to get 10 TMC of water.

KCR directed officials to construct BT roads in all villages of Gajwel at a cost of Rs 86 crore. Further, Rs 17.77 crore has been sanctioned for construction of 308 bridges and culverts and Rs 260 crore would be spent to convert 166 KM of single roads into double roads. He also sanctioned 132 KV Sub-Station for Gajwel and also assured to consider 220 KV Sub-Station for Tupraan.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and other elected representatives including sarpanches attended the review meeting. The Chief Minister asked all sarpanches to speak about the issues concerning their villages and issued on-spot directions to the senior officials who were present in the meeting. (INN)
