Gajendra Chauhan to ‘replaces’ Fawad Khan in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’

Mumbai: The Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s face is going to be replaced by the controversial right wing FTII chairman Gajendra Chauhan by the “face replacement technology” in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Karan Johar is also changing the nationalities of the two principle female characters Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from Pakistan to Lucknow.

Sumit Purohit, editor and writer has taken the initiative and gone ahead to digitally remove Fawad from the trailer.

“We’ve come to terms with being dictated by Chauhan and Pahlaj Nihalani (chairman, Central Board of Film Certification), who constantly support the government’s decision, whether or not the decisions are taken by people qualified to do so, but we’re not okay with featuring a celebrated actor like Fawad Khan in our films. If this is what the government wants, then my trailer is an insight into how our films would look if they had their way,” says Purohit.

A short video by Sumit Purohit has a better solution, one that reflects the current mood of forced censorship brought on ultra-nationalism.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) refusing to compromise from its stand of banning the release of Bollywood films featuring Pakistani actors after the fallout of the Uri attack.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is scheduled for release on 28 October, 2016 on the Diwali weekend.
