Gade falls sick, stable

Guntur, March 02: Minister for Endowments, Gade Venkata Reddy, fell ill due to fall in sugar levels in his body at Bapatla this morning and was rushed to the intensive care unit of Lalita Super speciality hospital in Guntur. His condition, according to doctors attending on him, is stable. Though initially, the doctors wanted to shift him to the Nizam’s Insstitute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad, later they dropped the idea as the minister showed signs of quick recovery and all tests conducted on him showed there was no need for worry.

According to information, the Minister, while having his breakfast at a guest-house in Bapatla this morning, fell down due to a fall in his blood sugar levels. It is said that the sugar levels fell to as low as 55 way behing the normal level of 70-110.

Immediately, he was shifted to a private hospital at Ponnur for first-aid and from there to Lalita Super Speciality Hospital in Guntur.

He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and the doctors conducted MRI scan, ECG, blood and urine tests. Hospital cardiologist Raghava Sarma said the Minister was under observation and his condition was stable.

Meanwhile, District Collector B Ramanjaneyulu tried to send a team of doctors including Guntur Government general hospital superintendent Phanibhushana Rao and cardiologist Mohanarjuna to Bapatla. But he dropped the idea as the Minister was taken to Guntur.

Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, enquired from the Collector about the condition of Venkata Reddy’s health and directed him to send the Minister to NIMS by a helicopter, if need be. After discussing with the hospital in-charge, the District Collector briefed the Chief Minister about Venkata Reddy’s condition.

Ministers Kanna Lakshminarayana, D Manikya Vara Prasad, Deputy Speaker N Manohar, ZP chairperson K Vijaya, Guntur Range IG Kishore Kumar and SP Sankarabrata Bagchi visited the hospital.
