Gaddafi forces retake Libyan city

Tripoli, April 29: Forces loyal to Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi have recaptured the southeastern city of al-Kufrah as fighting continues between the revolutionaries and government forces.

Severe fighting erupted on Thursday between Gaddafi loyalists and anti-regime fighters on both sides of the Libyan-Tunisian border around the Dehiba frontier post, AFP quoted a Western military source as saying.

In the eastern city of Misratah, the revolutionary forces were fighting to capture the city’s airport after driving back pro-Gaddafi forces from the city’s key sea port.

Clashes were also raging on in the eastern town of Ajdabiyah.

Meanwhile, the Libyan revolutionaries’ military chief Abdulfatah Yunishas warned that Gaddafi forces could use mustard gas on fighters, calling on the West to supply the opposition forces with heavy weapons.
