Tripoli, September 02: Libya’s fugitive dictator Muammar Gaddafi has called on his supporters to launch guerrilla warfare against the opposition fighters, speaking in an audio message surfaced recently.
“Prepare yourselves for a gang and guerrilla war, for urban warfare and popular resistance in every town…to defeat the enemy everywhere,” he said in the message aired on Thursday, AFP reported.
“The aim is to kill the enemy wherever he may be, whether he be Libyan or foreign,” he added.
“We will never allow our (oil) wells and our ports to be under their control. Our resistance will expand,” the 69-year-old colonel said.
Gaddafi’s whereabouts has been unknown since August 20, when the revolutionaries captured his main compound in the capital, Tripoli.
In a meeting in Paris on Libya’s future after Gaddafi, the head of the TNC Mustafa Abdel Jalil outlined 18-months plans to create a new constitution and hold elections.
“We have to make sure that we fulfill our side of the deal. We must have security in Libya, tolerance and forgiveness must be promoted, the state of law must be respected,” Abdel Jalil said.
Libya has been the scene of intense fighting between government troops and the revolutionary forces since a revolution, seeking to topple Gaddafi, began in mid-February.
