Republic Ride 2017 event will be held on January 26 at Gachibowli Stadium here. The 8th edition of India’s biggest corporate cycling event, Republic Ride 2017 marks the milestone achievement of more than a Lakh riders riding in over 50 events conducted by the organizers since the year 2009. The Republic Ride conducted every year since 2010 to commemorate the Republic Day of India, now stands tall in the country’s sporting events as India’s biggest and the best Century Cycling Event.
Organized by The Atlanta Foundation, The Republic Ride has received registrations from 2000 riders. These riders include the employees of many IT, BPM, and Engineering Multi-National Companies primarily situated in the Cyberabad area. The rider list also boasts teams from Police and Armed Forces. The ride will cover the distance of 100Kms and it includes a relay format as well for those who want to finish it as a team effort in multiples of 25K and 50K.
The ride path starts at the Gachibowli stadium, progresses towards Shankarpally via ORR Service Roads and winds down towards beautiful country-side farm lands after Shankarpally. All riders who finish their 100K as individuals or as a team will receive the medals and certificates.
The Republic ride has two sets of flag-off times, one at 5:30AM to cater to the demand of many riders who prefer to ride in the cooler hours of the morning. The other flag-off is at 6:20AM coinciding with day-break. Both batches start with ceremonial National Flag Salutes and National Anthem Renditions. , Medals distribution will be held at 9am.
Atlanta Foundation’s Republic Ride is organized on Republic Day, Independence Ride on Independence Day and Peace Ride on Gandhi Jayanthi, Unity Ride and CEOs Ride are the trend setting cycling events, generated lot of awareness for cycling in the city. It is because of these mega cycling events, the cycling community and cycling ecosystem is developed in the city.
Biking and Walking are back with bang in city. There has been a steady increase in biking across the city in the last 8years ever since the first Ride was organised by Atlanta Foundation.
Annual rides like Republic Ride, Freedom Ride, Peace Ride, and the Unity Ride are organized by The Atlanta Foundation, a charitable organization, to support the education of under privileged students in government schools. These are the most talked about rides which kick-started cycling movement not only in Hyderabad but in several cities across the country. The entire credit of reviving Cycling in the city goes to The Atlanta Foundation.
The Republic Ride – 2017 has the strong support from IT and BPO multinationals, along with the event partners Synchrony Financials, Hexagon, Citizens Hospital, Redibike, Dr. Reddy’s, & Green park hospitality services. The government organizations like TSIIC, IT Dept., SCSC, Police are also among the strong partners of this event.
