Furqan Qamar appointed Raj University vice chancellor

New Delhi, September 06: Planning Commission Adviser (Education) Furqan Qamar has been appointed as the vice chancellor of Rajasthan university in Jaipur. State Governor S K Singh appointed Qamar, also professor of Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, for the post.

Qamar will replace Professor N K Jain, who completed his term on August five and has been given extension up to September 30, officials said. An alumni of Lucknow Christian Degree College and Canning College of Lucknow University, Professor Qamar started his teaching career as an assistant in 1981 and moved to Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 1984.

He has completed over 28 years in teaching and research in India and abroad. He was appointed as Adviser (Education) in Planning Commission on deputation in March 2008
