Sangareddy, March 01: District unit of the Kula Vivaksha Porata Samithi (KVPS) demanded the government to allot Rs.25,000 crore for creating facilities at Dalit colonies.
Addressing a gathering in front of the Collectorate after holding a dharna on Monday, KVPS State general secretary John Wesley alleged that the respective governments failed to meet the aspirations of the Dalits by neglecting them. Wondering why even the allotted budget was also not spent by the government for the benefit of Dalits, he demanded appointment of the chairman of SC, ST Commission immediately. Allotment of Rs.5,000 crore for Indiramma Houses, supplying 35 kg of rice to all Dalit families and allotment of agriculture land to Dalits are some of the demands put forth by the KVPS.
Earlier, a procession was held from ITI to Collectorate.
Demands hike in wages
District wing of the Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) demanded the government to increase the minimum wages to Rs.10,000 as the cost of living has been escalated. A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Labour Commissioner here on Monday.
