Chennai, April 16: Extending its welfare measures for differently-abled persons, the Tamil Nadu government today announced allotting Rs 39 crore for such children in the state.

In his announcements for the year 2010-11, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the amount would be used in establishing special centres for differently-abled children and provide them with the required equipment.

With a view to reach out to differently-abled girl students, an annual scholarship of Rs 2000 would be awarded to more than 380 girls, he said.

Further, to implement projects for such students, a post of Deputy Director would be created in the Directorate of School Education, Thennarasu said.
