Functioning of Minorities Welfare Department came to standstill

Mr. Ahmed Nadeem, Secretary of Minorities Welfare is on long leave from 22nd September to 4th October and Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel is on leave for the past 4 days. The functioning of the Departments of Minorities Welfare in Telangana and A.P. States has come to a standstill. The portfolio of Minorities Welfare in Telangana State is with the CM and the officials of the department find it difficult to find an access to CM for getting the files cleared. In A.P. State this portfolio is held by a non-Muslim Minister. Mr. Jalaaluddin Akbar who is heading Wakf Board is finding difficulty in taking certain decision in the absence of the Secretary.

It is reported that so far the Dept. of Minorities Welfare has not submitted its budget proposals yet. In the absence of the secretary of Minorities Welfare, his responsibility has been allotted to Dr. T. Radha, Secretary of Social Welfare. She is not able to concentrate on the Dept. of Minorities Welfare due to her heavy schedule of engagements. Govt. of A.P. has not entrusted the responsibility to any official.

It is very sad that despite bifurcation of the states, the institutions of Minorities Welfare have not been divided. Hajj Committee, Finance Corporation and other institutions of Minorities Welfare have to be divided. The difficulty is multiplied due to non-availability of officers to head these institutions.

Dr. S.A. Shukoor is the Head of the Dept. of Urdu of Nizam College where he is holding the additional responsibilities of Director of Center for Educational Development of Minorities of Osmania University. Govt. of Telangana has given him important positions like Director of Urdu Academy, Special Officer of Hajj Committee, MDF, Minorities Finance Corporation and Executive Officer of Wakf Board.
