Full Fee To 10,000 Rankers; Problem Only With 85 Colleges: CM

The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the State Government will pay the full fee to the top 10,000 rankers (eligible), and the students who studied their intermediate at Government colleges, SC/ST/Minority and Government sponsored colleges, and pay Rs.35,000 (enhanced from Rs.31,000 to 35,000) to every eligible engineering student in other colleges.

Addressing the media at Secretariat here on Thursday along with the PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana and the Ministers Pithani Sathyanarayana and others, the Chief Minister said that the Government will de-link the fee reimbursement from scholarship from this year onwards. He said that the fee structure was different only in 85 colleges out of 715 colleges. The fee structure in 85 colleges varies from Rs.50,000 to Rs1.05lakh. He said that the total fee to the students belonging to SC and ST who joined the above said 85 colleges will be paid by the State Government.

He said that the management quota will be filled with merit students and the Higher Education Department will launch a website and will put the details of management quota seats in it. The Colleges have to fill the management quota seats in a transparent manner.

The Government will initiate action against the collection of donations and other form of funds. The Government constituted Task Force, as per GOMs no. 54, will inspect the colleges and look into the infrastructure and qualified staff details. He said that the colleges must upload the details of the staff. Later the Task Force will inspect the details. The Task Force report would also be uploaded in the website. The Chief Minister said that it was not a revengeful act against the college managements. He also said that the colleges have to maintain the attendance and performance of the students and faculty, and send the attendance to the parents through SMS or by post. “It is mandatory for the colleges”, he said.

He said that constitution of Task Force was only to provide good education to the students. The students have to get jobs once they completed their courses and it is possible only when the colleges provided good education. He said that the parents, state and nation will experience loss due to bad education, and hence the State Government concentrated on quality education. The youth are as competent as others in the world and it is the duty of the Government to provide good education. The Government was streamlining the engineering education system, he said. He said that action will be initiated against the colleges which will not follow the rules according to law.

He said that the State Higher Education Department will design new courses keeping the demand in mind and will synchronize the courses with the present one.
Stating that the counseling was delayed only 24 days when compared with the last year, he said that the State Government has seriously worked on it with the help of experts and Cabinet Sub-Committee. He said that the State Government spent Rs.3569 crores on 26.23 lakh students. (NSS)
