Hyderabad, October 15: A suspended Police Inspector, accused of raping a minor, today surrendered before a court after being on the run for over a month, police said.
N C H Rangaswamy, who was Circle Inspector of Madannapet police station, had allegedly raped a 16-year old girl, daughter of a woman Constable, on August 30.
The Central Crime Station, a wing of Hyderabad City Police, had registered a rape case against Rangaswamy on September 1 after the victim’s father lodged a complaint. “Rangaswamy surrendered before Ranga Reddy district court.
The Magistrate sent him in judicial remand till October 28 after which he was taken to Cherlapally jail,” Assistant Commissioner of Police J Amarendar Reddy told PTI.
