Friend of India award goes to Senator Dodd

Washington, April 29: Top Democrat Senator Christopher Dodd would receive ‘Friend of India’ award for his contribution in strengthening the Indo-US relationship.

The award, instituted by the Connecticut chapter of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) would be presented to Senator Dodd at the GOPIO-Connecticut’s fourth annual gala on May 2 in Stamford.

“Co-chairman of the India Caucus in the US Senate, Senator Dodd will be honoured with ‘Friend of India’ award in recognition of his leadership in advancing economic and political cooperation between India and the United States, and his years of support to the India-American community,” said Thomas Abraham of GOPIO.

GOPIO-Connecticut would also facilitate several Indian Americans on the occasion. Dinesh Paliwal, chairman, president and CEO of Harman International as ‘Indian-American Achiever’ and Neesha Ramchandani as ‘Young Person Of The Year’.
