Friday prayer at the historical Makkah Masjid passes peacefully. In view of the continued communal tensions, the police today extended prohibitory orders in the limits of five police stations in the old city.
Some of the youths assembled near Makkah Masjid and started shouting the slogans of Nar-e-Takbeer. Some incidents of stone pelting were reported from Mughalpura and Bibibazaar X road.
Muslim offered prayers amidst tight security and barriers put up by the police as precautionary measures. In view of Friday, police maintained strict vigilance across the city. Important routes of the city were barricaded and in some areas traffic diversions were in source. Section 144 had been strictly implemented.
