Suspicious grown after the police found mobile phones from the Cherlapally central which have open a can of worms in the prisons department. The DG (Prisons) V K Singh has ordered an enquiry into the frequent recovery of mobile phones at the prison.
A couple of days ago police recover mobile phones from the place where notorious history sheeter Mohammed Pahelwan and some terror suspects have been kept. Preliminary enquiries revealed that a prisoner was helping inmates by illegally providing them mobile phones.
According to police the prisoner was identified as Guruvaiah, who is suspected to be handing over mobile phones to the needy inmates by collecting huge amounts. Guruvaiah caught by officers while using a mobile phone at least three times.
Some prisoners have also informed jail officials that the Guruvaiah was acting at the behest of one of the three DSPs working at the prison. The prisoners said that the DSP was collecting money from the inmates’ family members for providing them with the facility of a mobile phone.
