The regional passport office, Hyderabad, is all set to issue passports replacing ‘Andhra Pradesh’ with ‘Telangana from June 2, the Appointed Day. The regional passport office in Visakhapatnam will cater to all passport-related needs of the Seemandhra region from the same day.
The staff of the passport office in Hyderabad are making the necessary arrangements to print ‘Telangana’ on the last page of the passport booklet. “Separate software has been developed to replace Andhra Pradesh, India, with Telangana, India, in the address column,” Regional Passport Officer K Srikar Reddy told TOI.
New passports replacing AP with Telangana will be issued for residents of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam, Medak, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda. Currently, in Telangana, five passport seva kendras (PSKs) including three in the city (Ameerpet, Begumpet and Tolichowki) and the remaining two in Nizamabad,and Karimnagar issue passports for Telangana. Apart from these, a mini PSK functions in Karimnagar district.
