Freedom Fighter Rama Rao Doke Passes Away

The PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana condoled the sad demise of Ram Rao Doke, a veteran freedom fighter and former Deputy Mayor of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, who passed away last night at the age of 95 years.

Botcha, in a condolence message today, said that Rama rao Doke had taken active part in the Hyderabad State Liberation Movement in the year of 1947-48, sentenced to death in Pochampalli bomb case, and he was saved from death due to the Police Action in September, 1948 by Central Government.

Doke was felicitated by Abul Kalam Azad, former president of India at Rashtrapathi Nilayam, New Delhi on the occasion of Quit India anniversary of August 9, 2006. He was survived by wife and two sons and three daughters.

The PCC president conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
A P and Goa Freedom Fighters Association president N B Srihari also condoled the demise of Ram rao Doke. “The Association dips its flag in deep sorrow for the irreparable loss to the freedom fighters in particular, and to the nation in general”, Srihari said. (NSS)
