Telangana Education Minsiter G Jagadish Reddy has made it clear that free education from KG to PG was still in the stage of discussion and there will be no enrolment of students for the current academic year.
Replying to a query raised by MLA R Ravindra Kumar and others during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the minister admitted that the government proposes to provide free education from KG to PG, but there would be no enrolments this year. However, an amount of Rs 25 crore is provided in the budget for the year 2014-15 towards KG to PG programme for the purpose of planning and other preliminary work.
The minister said that the modalities, time frame and budgetary requirement for the scheme is being worked out.
