Free cancer treatment scheme successful:Azad

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed satisfaction over successful implementation of pilot project of free treatment to cancer and diabetes patients in 100 districts of 21 states. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at the 10th annual convention of the Vascular Society of India here yesterday, Mr Azad said that the scheme presently was being implemented in 100 most backward districts in 21 states in the country that is working fine. He said the Health Ministry was concentrating on effective care to patients of diabetes, heart troubles and hypertension working on enhancement and strengthening of facilities/services for diagnostic test/investigations for these dreaded diseases. “We are also seeking help of private sector in this regard”, the Minister said.
