Istanbul, August 31: Four Turkish soldiers died in fighting with militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in south-eastern Turkey, reported the Turkish military on Monday.
The soldiers had been investigating illegal activity by the PKK in the Hakkari province when they were attacked, according to the online announcement reporting the incident which happened Sunda.
The PKK fighters had launched a hand grenade, according to media reports.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip condemned the attack and said that such incidents undermined efforts to build support for legislation that would strengthen the rights of Kurds in Turkey.
