Four trained teachers climb water tank to protest

Sangrur, May 30: Four activists of the Unemployed Elementary Trained Teachers’ Union agitating for appointment today kept the authorities here on tenterhooks as they climbed a water tank to press for their demand and refused to get down despite much pesuasion.

The protesting trained teachers climbed the water tank in the middle of a sit-in being staged by the union near the court complex here.

All efforts by SDM Upkar Singh and local MP Vijay Inder Singla to persuade the four activists to climb down went in vain as they refused to get down until the unemployed trained teachers got their appointment letters.

The stalemate continues with the protesters still over the tank and police personnel deployed around it to keep a watch on their activities.
