Four-Tier Security for PR polls: DGP

Director General of Police (DGP) V Dinesh Reddy has said four-level security will be provided to Panchayat Raj elections to be held very soon.

Speaking to the media after a review meeting on law and order situation at DGP office here on Tuesday, the DGP said there was a chance violence erupting in the villages during PR elections. He said they would ask the Centre for additional forces and also forces from the neighboring States.
Stating that law and order situation in the State was good, Dinesh Reddy said they were making arrests based on the calls received through ‘Dial 100’. He said they were receiving some 7,000 calls every day through ‘Dial 100’ facility. He revealed that they will set up ‘reception counter’ at every police station. Receptions will be set up at 90 police stations in the first phase, he said, adding that receipt will be given to every complaint lodged by the people. He said some 5,000 CC cameras will be installed across the Greater Hyderabad and two more battalions will be linked with the APSP.

Law and order additional D G Koumudhi said check-posts will be set up along with Excise department jointly. He said already the department has directed the Maoist-infested districts to remain alert. (NSS)
