Four Taliban insurgents killed in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan]: At least four Taliban insurgents have been killed and nine others got injured during the airstrikes by the United States forces in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

Afghani police has confirmed that the airstrike was carried out by the United States forces on Monday, reports Khaama Press.

Police further said that unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the Taliban insurgents in Marki Khel Tangi area of Shirzad district.

Taliban leaders, identified as Salahuddin and Abid, were among the four militants who were killed. The local residents and the personnel did not suffer any casualties in the airstrike.

The Taliban has not commented on the incident so far.

Earlier, a key provincial leader of Taliban was killed by own guards in eastern Nangarhar province.

The provincial police commandment had confirmed that Taliban leader Fazal Subhan and his four companions were shot dead in Khogyani district.

Nangarhar Police said Subhan was a key provincial leader and was the brother of another senior Taliban leader Mawlavi Nik Mohammad.

Anti-ISIS as well as anti- Taliban operation is underway to eliminate the presence of ISIS affiliates in Nangarhar province and U.S. forces are providing airstrikes support to the Afghan forces during the operations. (ANI)
