Four Spanish nationals among five killed in Andhra road accident

Chittoor: Five people, including four Spanish nationals, were killed in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh‘s Chittoor district on Saturday, police said.

The accident occurred near Yatala Vanka in Punganur “mandal” (block) when a mini-bus in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck.

Four Spanish nationals and driver of the mini-bus were killed and one Spaniard was critically injured. Four other Spanish nationals sustained minor injuries, a police official said.

The foreign nationals were heading to Puducherry after visiting the Rural Development Trust (RDT), a philanthropic organisation, in Anantapur district.

The Spanish nationals were undertaking various service activities in the district through RDT.

Expressing shock over the accident, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to contact Spain’s embassy in New Delhi and gather details about the victims.
