Four robbers arrested; arms seized

Sonepat, February 26:A district SIT team has arrested four suspected robbers after engaging them in an encounter in Gohana here and seized a firearms from them, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, the SIT team surrounded the four motorcycle-borne youth, suspected to be involved in dacoity and theft in Haryana and Delhi, yesterday in Gohana, Sonepat SSP K K Rao.

Finding themselves surrounded, the four started firing to which the SIT team retaliated, he said. However the suspects — Sandeep, Jaswant, Krishna and Vicky — surrendered after brief the gunbattle.

They have allegedly confessed to their role in several dacoity incidents in Delhi and Haryana, Rao said, adding that a bike, six pistols and a few live rounds were recovered from them.

The police said they had snatched away the motorcycle from a youth at Bilbilan village on gunpoint.

They have been booked under Arms act and on charges of obstructing a government servant from discharging duty and attacking police with intent to murder. PTI
