Four people, including a retired headmaster and a police head constable were allegedly killed by their relatives due to a dispute over two acres of land in Malpura hamlet, the Hiwarkhed police said here today.
The deceased have been identified as retired headmaster Baburao Charate (60), police head constable Dhanraj Charate (55) and his two sons, sons namely Shubham (22) as well as Gaurav (20), the police said.
Allegedly, their throats were slit and their dead bodies were found lying at the spot for over five hours last night, the police said.
Villagers did not come forward to help the deceased due to the terror created by their assailants, the police said.
The police said that Haribhau Telgote (55), Dwarka Haribhau Telgote (50), Kundan Haribhau Telgote (24) and another juvenile have been arrested from Akot tehsil town late last night, in connection with the crime.
Malpura is a hamlet with merely 150 inhabitants and it looked deserted as if it was observing an undeclared curfew.
Senior police officials have rushed to the hamlet to take stock of the situation, the police said.
Dead bodies were sent for postmortem late last night and an investigation is on, the police said.
