Four Naxals arrested

Shimoga, November 18: Police today arrested four naxals, including one who was carrying a reward of Rs three lakh and the other three Rs one lakh each for information about them.

Sources said the arrested included Vishnu alias Devendra of Tallur village of Sorab taluk for whom the police had announced Rs three lakh, and Asha of Malavagoppa of Shimoga district, Kiran alias Mallesh of Bommanahalli village of Devadurga taluk of Raichur district and Laxmi Pujari alias Tombattu village of Kumdapur taluk of Udupi district.

Sources said Vishnu, Asha and Lakshimi had been arrested by Andhra Pradesh police about two days back at Raichur. Karnatka police were investigating the case at Bangalore.

Shimoga police were questioning Kiran of Rachur origin at a secret place. It was believed that he was actively involved in naxal operations in the Western Ghats region.

Police had offered a reward for anyone providing information about them.

Top Police officials were, however, tightliped about the arrest.
