Ahmedabad, December 23: Crime branch officials on Monday conducted a raid at a hotel in Kalupur and arrested four people including a woman on charges of running a prostitution racket.
The arrested were identified as Rajinder Kaur alias Sonu Joginder Singh, a resident of Rajguni Apartment, Mithakhali, Prabhu Venugopal (hotel manager), Ashwin Dayan Chaturani (hotel owner) and another person Vipul Kesu Daka, a customer and resident of Maninagar.The four accused were produced at the court of metropolitan magistrate, GM Patel who later sent them to six days police remand.
As per case details, Kaur, Venugopal and Chaturani were running a prostitution racket at Abhishek Hotel in Kalupur.Kaur supplied the girls while Venugopal and Chutarani got a share in the earnings from the prostitution business. According to crime branch sources, Kaur had agents in Mumbai, UP and Kolkatta who used to send girls for prostitution.
Sources said Kaur kept 50% of the earnings and gave the rest to the girls who worked as prostitutes. Sources said Chaturani used to get Rs10,000 for helping run the business in his hotel while the hotel manager Venugopal got Rs1500.
Earlier, on Monday the crime branch officials received a tip off that a prostitution racket was going on at hotel Abhishek. Based on this information, the crime branch officials raided the hotel and nabbed four people. Vipul Daka, a resident of Maninagar was caught in a compromising position with Mamta Prajapati at the hotel’s room number 209.
Crime branch sources said the accused were planning a big event at the hotel for the New Year and the call girls were brought from Mumbai, UP, Delhi and Kolkata.
