Hyderabad, September 12: Tension prevailed in the Saidabad area this evening after four Muslim youths were beaten up by the youths belonging to the other community during the Ganesh immersion procession. According to the sources Mustafa Ahmed and Mohammed Aslam both residents of Sapotabagh, Saidabad were passing from the communally sensitive area (poosala Basti) of Saidabad.
In the meantime the mischief mongers who were along with the procession stopped the Muslim youths and told to dance in front of the Ganesh Idol, however the youths refused to do for which they were attacked and beaten up. That’s not all their bike was also snatched away.
The agitated youths came to Police Station Saidabad for lodging a complaint, then cops took them for the identification of the mischief mongers but surprisingly Muslim youths were again attacked for which the youths raised slogans against the mischief mongers and for police in action. The victims have been identified as Mustafa, Aslam, Tahsin and Kamal.
On receiving information the Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Mohammed Iqbal Siddiqui reached the spot and sent the injured youths to Hospital. Later the Saidabad Police registered a case against the unknown mischief mongers for rioting and attacking.
In another incident the police came under attack in the Chatrinaka area after a 25 year old Mahesh died on the spot after a lorry carrying Ganesh Idol accidentally crushed him. The persons who were along with the procession pelted stones on Police alleging that the police tried to hasten the procession under which speeding lorry crushed the youth. The police resorted to lathi charge.
