Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the police and the army launched an operation in Assam’s Kokrajhar district and killed four National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit faction) militants after a fierce encounter.
The slain militants include Muhar Basumatary, a self-styled second in command of the outfit, and the other three were identified as Domsatorong, Loharun and Maisaran
The forces also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition which included one AK-56 rifle, one AK-56 magazine, 20 live rounds of ammunition, three pistols and five mobile sets from their possession.
“The group got divided into two parts after that NDFB became the extremist group. Both of the group is being splitter. They are going through financial crisis. This has been a search warrant issued against the group and we are searching them in the remote areas,” said Assam’s DGP Khagen Sharma.
According to Intelligence sources, the NDFB (S) was trying to carry out a major strike on security forces and also target minority communities in retaliation to the arrest of their five hardcore terrorists in Chirang district on August 20.
The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit faction) is indulged in many criminal incidents like extortion, kidnapping and killings. (ANI)
