Four militants killed in gun-battle in Baramulla

Srinagar, May 31: Four militants were killed and an army jawan was injured in a gun-battle that broke out between ultras and security forces in Baramulla district of north Kashmir today, a defence spokesman said. Acting on specific information, troops of One Para, 32 Rashtriya Rifles and 40 Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation in the dense Hamam-Nardagan Forest in Rafiabad, 65 kms from here.

The gun-battle broke out when the security forces intercepted the ultras and in the ensuing exchange of fire, four militants were killed, spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said. A jawan was also injured in the gun-battle.

Four AK 47 rifles, a UBGL (Under Barral Grenade Launcher) and other arms and ammunition were recovered during the operation, which was still going on.
