Four maoists surrender before Addl. DGP

Hyderabad, December 21: Four key members of the Maoist State Committee, laid down arms and surrendered before the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) here today.

According to the police, Mr Maddela Adellu alias Anand of Adilabad district who worked in the Maoist party in the State and the neighbouring Maharashtra for the past 25 years laid down arms along with his wife Kurma Rambai alias Saritha. Apart from the couple, two others, Killo Raju and Subba Rao, of Visakhapatnam, commander and deputy commander respectively of Kannavaram pocket militia and surrendered before the police.

The police officials said that the surrendered Maoists would be provided all the sops as announced despite several criminal cases pending against them. They said that Adellu and Saritha will be paid cash relief of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively, while Raju and Subba Rao will be paid Rs 50,000 each.

All the four underground Maoists, who were involved in various offences, gave up before the Additional Director General of Police, Mr. M Ratan (Law and Order). Mr Ratan said that Maddela Adellu, a Maharashtra State Committee (MCM) member carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head while his wife Kurma Rambai alias Saritha carried a reward of Rs three lakh.

Adellu was involved in nine offences including four exchanges of fire, one ambush, two murders and a lorry-burning case in Maharashtra. The surrendered Maoist was promoted as alternative state committee member of Maharashtra State committee in 2006. Killo Raju alias Chikkudu Raju and Sreendri Subba Rao alias Srikanth, both tribals and native of Kannavaram village in Visakhapatnam district carried rewards of Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000, the Additional DGP added.

According to the information, there were 370 Maoists in the State and half of them were operating in the neighbouring States, Mr Ratan said.
