Amritsar, October 15: Four persons including three women were killed and four others received minor injuries, when a private mini-bus fell into a drain here today, police said.
According to police the accident took place at village Bhakna near Indo-Pak Attari border, when the driver of the ill-fated bus lost control over the steering, while negotiation a sharp curve and bus slipped into drain.
Senior police officials along with fire brigade team rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations and cranes were pressed into service to pull out the bus.
Police said that so far a lady Sharnjit Kaur(50) and Jarnail Singh were identified, while two females could not be identified.
The passengers, who had a narrow escape, said that at the time of accident, the driver and conductor were busy in gossips and the bus was at high speed, when the driver got nervous while negotiating at sharp turn.
Police said that driver of bus was arrested for rash driving.
