Four killed, 30 injured as jeep overturns

Jaipur, January 25: Four persons, including three girls, were killed and 30 others injured when a jeep in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a 100-feet deep valley in Udaipur district, 420 kms from here.

“The mishap occurred late last night when the overloaded jeep overturned some 7 kms off NH-76 and fell into the valley,” police said today.

Police with the help of local villagers started rescue operation and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital where four identified as Laxmi (17), Sharda (13), Indra (19) and Nathi (40) were declared as brought dead.

Thirty injured, including 23 children and five women, were hospitalised and their condition was stated to be stable.

The victims, hailing from Raneji village, were returning after taking part in a religious function when the mishap took place, they added.
